What is a Critical Mass Gathering?
|
Critical Mass Gatherings, or CMGs, are professional development conferences which offer content for those students in health professions who experience challenging socioeconomic conditions. MVPKC uses CMG conferences as an avenue to work with students to co-design and create solutions. The key objectives of CMG conferences are creating a place for professional growth, enhancing a sense of belonging and strengthening the community.
The aim is to give students a “vision” of seeing themselves in a health career. CMGs furthers the goal of growing and retaining an inclusive healthcare workforce in Kansas City that reflects the community it serves. These events provide culturally relevant mentorship and create community. CMG can provide a positive impact on students because the local medical professionals and the community show up to facilitate this experience for the students. |
